Core Success at The London Ride

We have just receive this update from Pat Sharples, the new Core team manager, and we are very proud to say the least!

Core team skier Joe Tomlinson at the London Ride

The 7th London Ride took place at the Metro ski and snowboard show last Saturday, 23rd October, and once again it was a huge hit! There was a crowd of over 5000 people watching some of Europe's best Freeskiers battle it out for big cash prizes. I was once again MCing the event and also presenting the TV show for Eurosport, which will be shown later on in the year.

The London Ride is an invitational only competition and a lot of the riders who were picked to compete were chosen from the Salomon Grom Camps.  There was also a place for Core team rider Nathan Connolly who was picked as the top skier from the Core re-launch night.

5 of the big names had already pre qualified to compete in the final which included James 'Woodsy' Woods, Paddy Graham, Katie Summerhayes, James Webb and Murray Buchan and there was 16 riders competing in the qualification round battling to make it to the final which was going to be a head to head knockout comp.

Core team skier Joe Tomlinson winning the London RideCore team riders and the UKs leading girls Rowan Cheshire and Sissy Herant skied super well all day and impressed the big crowds.  They really showed the British public how far girls skiing has come on in the last couple of years.

Joe Tomlinson aka Tomo was on top form and super consistent all day with his signature trick, the Rodeo 540 with the bow and arrow grab. In the end the judges only took 12 skiers to the super finals which included the pre-qualified pros.  Tomo went through and straight away made a big impact. He knocked out British kids champ Tyler Harding and then went head to head with French super star freeskier JL Rachel only to win again. Then there was the tough one. He was up against British Big air champion James Woodsy aka Woodsy. This was super close and no one could decide them apart, but the judges had to make a decision and they went with Tomo. He was then up against Paddy Graham and James Webb to take home to title and $1000!  In the end the results ended like this. James Webb 3rd, Paddy Graham 2nd and Tomo 1st. Great result for him and his first major big win!

It was great to see so many of the regular Groms compete in one of the biggest UK events and as always there was a awesome atmosphere.

Pat
