Snow-Camp: Engaging Young People Through Snowsports.

Snow-Camp are the UK's only charity using a unique combination of skiing, snowboarding, education and vocational opportunities to support young people. The charity's mission is to provide young people across the North West with life skills, nationally recognised qualifications and work experience, enabling them to gain employment in the snowsport industry.

Young people can gain:

  • An accredited Snowsport England Snow-Life Award.
  • ASDAN in Sports & Fitness.
  • Safeguarding and First Aid Certificate.
  • BASI and Snowsport England Instructor qualifications.
  • NVQ in Activity Leadership through their programmes.

For every hour on the slopes the same amount of time is spent in their life-skills sessions. These sessions are there to aid young people and help them reflect on their newly acquired skills.

  • Perseverance and commitment.
  • Listening.
  • Patience and overcoming fear.
  • Learning how to respond to challenges.
  • Coping with peer pressure.
  • Setting goals for their future.

All of which are essential skills young people need to deal with the problems they may face in their everyday lives.

If you work with young people and would like to get them involved please contact the North West Programme Manager, Morv Bett:
