Will ski resorts be open in 2022?

Will ski resorts be open in 2022?

There is no area or aspect of the travel industry that hasn’t been affected by the worldwide health pandemic. But while some tourist destinations and locations are starting to reopen, the world of skiing is being left behind. We don’t know about you, but here at Chill Factore, we are eager to get back to normal (as much as possible that is) and continue our love for skiing and snow sports.

However, with so many of the most popular ski resorts all over the world still remaining closed, the ski holidays for 2022 are under threat. So, here are all the answers we have to the question: will ski resorts open in 2022?

Will ski resorts open in 2022?

Due to the COVID-19 health pandemic, many ski resorts were unable to open in 2021, meaning that if you usually enjoyed a skiing holiday, this year you were forced to make alternative arrangements. However, things have started to look more positive for us, since the latest travel restrictions were eased in July, and many major skiing nations are making their way to the UK’s ‘green’ travel list. Though of course, we have learnt our lesson from last winter, and now understand that there is no way you can completely predict the COVID-19 travel regulations.

With no current travel restrictions in place to countries such as Switzerland, Germany, Austria, ski holidays in these countries are looking more hopeful. However, while ski resorts in Italy and Canada are planning to open up for ski season unless these countries are added to the government’s green list, UK travellers will have to consider the restrictions if they plan to travel there. While some resorts are open in Italy for the 2021 summer season, many are still closed due to covid restrictions and no one can be sure what the 2021/2 seasons will bring with them.

Ski holidays 2022- a very different season

Here at Chill Factore, we have been trying to envisage what type of ski season we can expect for ski holidays in 2022 and we think it is fair to say that it is going to be very different from what we are used to. The increasing use of vaccines to protect us against COVID-19 is likely going to be one of the biggest changes to our ski holidays for 2022, and without being double vaccinated, enjoying some time on the ski slopes may become increasingly difficult.

While the UK and USA are looking at the logistics behind issuing vaccination certificates and ‘passports’, whether or not you have been jabbed may be the main influence on what sort of ski season you can enjoy.

Another huge change that we may see is the extension of ski holidays in 2022. While pre-COVID, skiers would look forward to a big skiing trip at the end of the year, now that we know we can effectively work remotely from home, experts are predicting that skiers and snowboarders may take even longer breaks at resorts. Here at Chill Factore, we can’t think of anything better than spending our evenings after work on a snow slope!

When it comes to ski resorts, size is no longer everything. Before COVID you likely always tried to book the biggest and best ski resort for your ski holiday, but in 2022 smaller resorts are likely to be just as popular, if not more popular, than the big resorts with multiple slopes. This is because queues and crowded slopes are a lot less appealing than a quieter remote resort after so long being unable to enjoy the sport we love.

Never fear, Chill Factore is here

But do not panic. If your ski holidays for 2022 aren’t looking to be exactly what you had in mind, that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy your usual skiing and snowboarding activities. The great thing about our facilities here at Chill Factore is that you don’t have to worry about the travel restrictions to enjoy your favourite sport.

With our lift pass offers, and our 180m long slope, you can enjoy your very own ski season right here from Manchester. Both experienced skiers and snowboarders can brush up on their skills and techniques and you can even grab yourself an unlimited monthly lift pass so that you can have as much ski slope fun as you like. Your lift pass booking also includes your skis, poles, and boots, or a helmet and snowboard. We can even provide you with clothing for an additional cost to save you having to bring your own!

So if you are looking to get on a snow slope for the 2021 and 2022 ski reasons, but are worried about COVID travel restrictions ruining all your fun, come check out everything we have to offer here at Chill Factore.
