We recommend you take into consideration that the roads and motorway exits around the area can become congested at times due to the close proximity to the Trafford Centre and Manchester United Football Club.

Please aim to arrive for snow activities at least 1 hour before your activity is due to start, this will give you time to collect your tickets, your equipment and to get changed.

How do I collect my Ticket?

If you have pre-booked ticket bring the booking reference and you can either collect your tickets from Guest Services desk or from the Self Service ticket machines situated near the staircase.

Keep your ticket with you as you’ll need this to gain access to the snow at the stated time on your ticket.

Pre-booking of activities will enable you to secure your preferred date and time.

What do I need to bring?

Our prices include the hire of boots, helmet, skis or snowboard and ski poles.

Clothing (Jacket and Trousers) can be hired separately and gloves and socks can be purchased separately.

Where can I get ready?

There's the "Changing Village" with cubicles for you to get ready in private if you wish and secure lockers to store your belongings whilst you are on the slopes. The lockers require a (returnable) £1 coin to operate; upon locking the key is released and is attached to a watch style bracelet for to wear securely.

The Changing Village is also where you can purchase gloves and socks if you need to, hire your clothing (jacket and trousers) and collect your equipment (helmet, boots and skis or snowboard).  Ski poles can be collected from the airlock area before you go onto the slopes.  Our Snow Crew will be happy to help and advise you with your selection.  You can of course bring your own clothing and equipment to use. 

Toilets are located and clearly signposted in the Changing Village.

After changing and collecting your equipment, if you have purchased a lift pass, you can go straight through the turnstiles at the time on your ticket to gain entrance to the slopes.

If you have booked a lesson or an activity, once you’re ready, please take a seat on the appropriate on the appropriate bench and wait for your instructor to collect you.

What equipment do I need?

Before you can go onto the slopes, you do need to wear the right clothing and have the appropriate equipment.  You can bring your own (view our Health & Safety video for information) or clothing and equipment hire is available. 

We have all clothing and equipment in all shapes and sizes, if you are concerned that we might not stock your size please check out our sizing chart.

You can collect Chill Factore equipment (helmet, boots, skis and snowboard) from the Changing Village, where our Snow Crew team will assist you with your selection.

Skiers will need to be measured and fitted for snow boots.  Go to the Z master machines by the ski rental desks; remove your shoes, roll up the bottom of your trousers and stand on the machine and follow the instructions. This machine is able to calculate the size boots and skis you require and will print a receipt which can be exchanged for the equipment from our Snow Crew.

It can get very busy within the Changing Village, particularly during peak times, so please allow enough time to collect your equipment and to get changed.  We recommend arriving at Chill Factore at least 1 hour before your activity start time.

When your session has ended, place your ski poles on the rack inside the air lock and return all skis, boards, boots and helmets to the designated area at the end of the Equipment area within the Changing Village.

What do I wear?

Sorry to state the obvious, but it is cold on the slopes though for those active on the snow you’ll soon warm up.

You can bring your own suitable clothing to wear i.e. waterproof jacket and trousers or you can hire them here by pre-booking or on arrival (subject to availability). 

You'll need thick socks and gloves (compulsory) and you may wish to wear a hat.  Don’t worry if you have forgotten any of those as you can buy those here.

For food and refreshments we have a range of restaurants and outlets to cater for all tastes and The Alpine Street offers an indoor shopping experience with a slant towards skiing and snowboarding clientele.

For spectators we offer a free viewing balcony and there is free Wi-fi available for all guests.

In 2010 we won the Manchester Tourism ‘Access for All’ award which recognises excellence in accommodating the needs of guests with disabilities.

I can ski – can I just head on to the main slope?

In order to use the main slope you must be able to meet the 'Minimum Main Slope Standard’. This means you must be able to control your speed and direction, link your turns and stop, in addition you should be able to use the button lift unassisted. If you cannot meet ALL of these requirements, you’re not eligible to use the main slope just yet, however we do have a range of lessons that’ll get you piste-perfect.

Luge Slip n Slide

Please note there are flashing lights on the Luge Slip 'n' Slide mats and the Luge also runs a traffic light system; if you have concerns about epilepsy please talk to one of our team.

Additional Information for groups, schools, parties and corporates

In order to prevent delays we request that your group arrives at Chill Factore at least 1 hour before your start time.  This will allow time to collect tickets and equipment.  We also recommend that every member of your group has been given information in advance of the activity they are taking part in.

We suggest you arrange to meet as a whole group at a designated meeting point on Alpine Street, that way your organiser can collect ALL tickets from the Guest Services desk and check that these tickets match the activities booked.  Distribute the tickets to your group members as they will need these to pass through the turnstiles to gain access to the slopes.

As a group, make your way through to the Changing Village. If you are having multiple lessons or activities people should stay together in the appropriate group.

Group changing facilities are available if you wish to book these in advance. Please email or call your Chill Factore group coordinator for further information.

After your activity, why not meet up with your group for an après ski drink or meal on Alpine Street.

Students

With our student rate we make it easy on your pocket too. To enjoy the discounted rate you need to book in person at our Guest Services Desk with a NUS/Student card that shows a valid expiry date clearly shown on the card.

Accessibility

Chill Factore is dedicated to providing a high level of service to all our guests. We aim to treat each guest as an individual and work with them to meet their specific requirements.

Chill Factore is home to Disability Snowsport UK, a nationwide registered charity providing adaptive skiing for individuals with any disability, including physical, sensory and learning disabilities. By using adaptive equipment and specialist instruction and support we are able to cater for even those with very limited mobility.

Pre-Arrival

Our website provides a wide variety of information for guests to plan their visit.

Arrival and Car Park

Entrance to the main car park is off Trafford Way. There are speed bumps and dedicated crossing points in the car park.
The main car park has 16 widened spaces designated accessible parking spaces (3.38m wide with rear access to parked vehicles).
Surface is asphalt and the car park is well lit with clear signage.
In addition to the main car park there is an overflow car park situated at the rear of the building together with a dedicated coach park. There is an accessible coach drop off point on the main road opposite the Chill Factore entrance.
It is approx 10m-20m from the accessible parking spaces to the main entrance. Path leading to the main entrance is approx. 8m wide and made from leveled concrete.
There is free on-site car parking available for all guests.
Queues are likely during our peak times (winter season November-February, school holidays or special event days). Please contact us in advance if you are unable to queue for long periods.

Main Entrance and Reception

The main entrance has two wide automatic doors.

Once inside, the Guest Services desk is straight ahead at the bottom of Alpine Street approx 50m away, there are various cafés at the entrance and also down the Apline Street. Alpine Street is cobbled in the centre with paving down either side for easy access. Toilets are located in cafés, restaurants and within the Changing Village on the ground floor. There’s also toilets upstairs in the restaurant, bars and conference locations.

At the Guest Services desk there is a low level counter. Paper and pens can be available on request.
A wheelchair is available on loan to visitors free of charge (subject to availability).
Large print information available on request from Guest Services.
Seating is available in café and restaurant areas.
Clear price signage is on display in Alpine Street. All information signage is at a minimum of 24 font size.

Public areas

The majority of the attraction is accessed at ground floor level. There is an additional restaurant and bar and conference facilities on the first floor which is accessible either by lifts or stairs.

Staff are on hand to offer assistance where required and are dressed in the Chill Factore uniform which has our logo on. They also have I.D. name badges.

All indoor public areas are no smoking and no vaping. There are ash bins provided outside.
Signage around the attraction is clear with contrast.
There is a variety of floorings in the centre including carpet and non-slip flooring.

Public Areas (W.C)

There are 9 toilet locations in the centre; 5 located on the ground floor level (in the changing village, Costa café, Nando’s, and Wetherspoons) and 2 located on the first floor (behind Mont Blanc restaurant and 2 in the Conference area behind Chilli’s bar).
Each toilet block has a disabled-access toilet and baby changing facilities are available in first floor toilets. The manual doors open outwards and have easy to operate locks.
Each has a toilet, sink, hand dryer or towels, sanitary bins. Flooring is non slip.

Restaurants, Bars & Cafés

Staff are available to offer assistance where required.

The café has a counter service (table service can be offered where needed) selection of sandwiches and soup, snacks and cakes, hot and cold drinks, confectionary.

Some items for sale may be out of reach; the staff offer assistance.
We are able to cater for special dietary requirements.
The till display is visible.
Chairs are available without armrests.
A picnic area with 4 wooden picnic benches is located outside near Wetherspoons.

Conference/Meeting Rooms and Banqueting

The conference facilities are located on the first floor and are accessible by lift or stairs. Rooms can accommodate from 2-100 people. There are rectangle style tables (4ft and 6ft) or 6ft diameter round style tables. Both tables and chairs are movable.

The lighting in the conference suites is adjustable. Staff are able to offer assistance as required.

Attraction

For access to the first floor there 1 main public lift, 1 escalator and 1 set of stairs (32 steps). These are all located next to the Guest Services desk in the Alpine Street. 

The lifts have audio, tactile buttons, automatic doors and emergency alarms.

There are TV’s displaying health and safety information with clear images and subtitles used.

Grounds

Chill Factore is an indoor attraction. Outside is primarily an asphalt area for car parking but there are small grass verges on the outskirts of the car park and wide paved pathways for access.
