Give Freestyle, Moguls and Race a Go

Have you watched the pros on the TV doing their triple cork 1440’s over the jumps, riding the moguls and smashing through the gates on the slalom course and thought I’d love to be able to try that? Through our Give It a Go challenges, you can!

With our Give It a Go challenges, you can channel your inner athlete and get tips and tricks from our talented instructors to take your skiing or snowboarding to the next level on freestyle, moguls and Race.

Can anyone get involved in a Give It a Go challenge?

Give It a Go challenge requirements

In order to take part in a Give It a Go Freestyle & Mogul challenge here at Chill Factore there are minimum standards, we ask that you:

  • Wear the correct clothing.
  • Wear a Helmet
  • Can control your speed and direction.
  • Stop safely.
  • Are comfortable with variable piste conditions.
  • Can link your turns.
  • Are able to use the button lift without assistance.

For the Give It A Go Race challenges, you need to meet the above criteria and:

  • Be able to link parallel turns from the top of the main slope comfortably and consistently or have completed a Skills Development session at Chill Factore.

If you’re not sure you meet all of the above requirements or need access to our beginner slope, it is best to look at our beginner lessons (only Chill Factore lessons can access our beginner slope) for more guidance before getting a lift pass. If you are missing these requirements and go on a lift pass you will be asked to leave the main slope for your’s and others safety and your pass will not be refunded.

Freestyle

First of all, what is freestyle? Freestyle is doing tricks on your skis or snowboard, whether that be on the flat, in the air off a jump, on a box, pipe or rail. On the right is a picture of a beginner box and a more advanced pipe!

Our freestyle parks have a mix of features suitable for beginners and more advanced riders.
The parks usually contain a jump (also known as a kicker), boxes, rails, pipes and sometimes features made out of snow.

With our Give It a Go freestyle challenge, you can have a go on these features with tips and tricks from our fully qualified instructors. So whether it’s your first time hitting a box or a jump (also known as a kicker), our instructors will help you challenge yourself, just like the pros do!

All you need to do to get involved and challenge yourself is book a lift pass!

Race

Have you taken one of our Junior Skills Development Coaching sessions or Adult Skills Development Coaching sessions and want more?
Have you seen the pros smashing through gates and poles on the TV recently? This was most likely a Slalom race! A slalom race involves skiing between gates or poles and is the most well known type of snowsport race.

Our Give It a Go Slalom challenges will introduce you to the basics of slalom racing and run you through drills and exercises to make sure your technique is sharp and develop your confidence before you make your way through the poles and gates.

The minimum standard is the ability to ski parallel, matching your skis throughout the turn. Ideally, someone who has completed one of our Junior Skills Development Coaching sessions or Adult Skills Development Coaching sessions first or can confidently ski red and black runs abroad.

Our fully qualified coaches will help you take the first steps into finding your inner athlete and on your way to looking like the pros on the TV.
