Schools are invited to inspire an exciting new Christmas book!

What makes Christmas magical to you?

It’s a question local school children will be asked to inspire a special new North West Christmas Tale, a story encapsulating the magic of Christmas as understood by children in the region.

Highly acclaimed author and poet, Mike Garry, has been commissioned by the UK’s only Santa’s Grotto on real snow, Chill Factore, to write an exclusive Christmas story. Inspired by youngsters in the region, the short story will bring to life the magic, memories and traditions that make Christmas so special to children in the North West.

Schools across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria and Merseyside are being encouraged to enter to get involved – five winning schools will be chosen to host a special creative storytelling workshop run by renowned charity Grimm & Co, during which ideas will come to life on what children believe makes Christmas magical, special traditions and how Christmas makes them feel.

The ideas from each school will be used to inspire a short story, written by local author Mike Garry and unveiled via a special reading by Santa and his Helpers on the opening night of Santa’s Grotto at Chill Factore on 16th November.

The chance to win a North West Christmas Tale Workshop is open to primary schools in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria and Merseyside. The deadline for entries is 6pm on Wednesday 10th October 2018.
