What clothing and equipment do you need?

Learning to snowboard is an exciting time, so don’t let anything dampen your spirits and get you chilly! When hitting the slopes we suggest wrapping up and wearing waterproof clothing like jackets and trousers - gloves are a must too! Although, these can be bought for £7.50 if you forget yours…

Don’t worry about specialist equipment, we have you covered! The price of your booking includes boots, a snowboard and a helmet.

Get your little one sliding into a new sport

Learning a snow sport from a young age can open up a variety of doors, from fun challenges, a potential passion or simply a holiday option! If you’re keen to get your youngster comfortable on the slopes and learning to snowboard, check out our Kids’ Snowboard School — created for young learners aged 8 to 16.

We’ve also got Kids’ Snowboard Private Lessons available for children aged 3 years and upwards. Not sure about snowboarding? We also have the Kids’ Ski School, which is perfect to get them started.

Is snowboarding hard for beginners?

As with any new skill, snowboarding takes a little perseverance to master, but it is fairly easy to get to grips with the basics in a short time, especially with the help of an expert Chill Factore instructor. Once you’ve found your balance and learnt how to control your board, you’ll have the fundamentals covered and will be able to start perfecting your technique.

Where to go snowboarding for beginners?

If you want to learn the basics of snowboarding, it’s definitely a good idea to start in a safe environment where there are professionals on hand to help you. At Chill Factore, you can learn on real snow before booking a trip abroad, so you’re ready to hit the slopes with confidence.

How long does it take to learn to snowboard?

It’s different for everyone, but it is possible to learn some of the basics of snowboarding during your first session, where you’ll master some key techniques. At Chill Factore, you can progress through our beginner snowboarding levels. By the end of level 5, our aim is to have you snowboarding confidently on the main slope.

How to go from a beginner to an intermediate snowboarder?

Once you have learnt the basics, it’s time to start building your skills and confidence. After completing our beginner snowboarding course, we offer a 5-hour ‘Tune Up Your Turns’ snowboarding day for adults, where we’ll work with you to perfect your technique and link your turns together smoothly. If you’re looking to get some extra practice under your belt, consider booking a private snowboarding lesson with one of our expert instructors, or one of our improver lessons for intermediate snowboarders.

What size snowboard should a beginner use?

Generally, shorter snowboards are easier to control and turn, so these are great for beginners. You should also take your height into consideration, as it’s important that you can maintain a comfortable stance, so considerably taller riders should opt for a longer board. You’ll be able to hire a snowboard at Chill Factore, and our team will help you to select a size that’s just right for you.

Can you snowboard without lessons?

To avoid injury on the slopes, we would always recommend starting off with some lessons to build a basic level of snowboarding skills and confidence. Without lessons, it may be difficult to learn the best techniques for keeping your board under control.
