Learn to ski at Chill Factore in Manchester and enjoy the real snow experience on the UK’s longest indoor ski slope. You will be guided by one of our highly qualified ski instructors, who will provide expert tuition and support as we aim to develop every aspect of your skiing technique, from bending your knees correctly to learning how to drag lift.

All of our ski instructors hold the British Association of Snowsport Instructors Level 1 qualification or equivalent and will be on hand to help you build speed, confidence, and skills.

We offer a variety of ski lessons depending on age and ability, and you can also choose from individual or group sessions. For more detailed information about our different ski lesson packages, please visit the pages below.

Things you need to know:

Your visit

  • You should aim to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before the start of your lesson to give you enough time to prepare.
  • Please have your booking reference to hand (you can find this on your booking confirmation email). You can collect your tickets from the Guest Services desk, or from the Self-Service ticket machines situated near Reception. If your booking confirmation has a QR code, you can scan this at the self-service machines to check in.
  • The price of your lesson includes boots, skis, poles (or a snowboard), and a helmet.
  • Helmets are mandatory-you can bring your own if you have one, or you can borrow one when you get here at no extra charge. Our rental helmets are all thoroughly sanitised. Helmets are also available to purchase on-site.
  • Age restrictions still apply.

Facilities

  • We have changing cubicles and lockers are available to store your belongings. Lockers take a £1 coin or a locker token. These are returnable.
  • We offer accessible changing facilities for those who require them.
  • For spectators, we offer a free viewing balcony and there is free Wi-fi available for all guests.
  • Please note, we only take card payments at this time - no cash will be accepted.

What else is here?

  • Lots! We recently opened The Lodge - Bar and Kitchen, which has undergone a £750k makeover and gives you a birds eye view of the longest real snow indoor slope in the UK!
  • For food and refreshments, we have a range of restaurants and outlets to cater for all tastes, and Alpine Street offers an indoor shopping experience with a slant towards skiing and snowboarding clientele.

What clothing and equipment will I need?

The price of your booking includes ski boots, skis and a helmet. Gloves are mandatory or can be purchased on arrival for £7.50, and we advise that you wear a waterproof jacket and trousers. Can I book skiing lessons for children?

Children can learn to ski too here at Chill Factore. Our ski lessons are perfect for child and adult learners. If your youngster wants to learn to ski, check out our Kids’ Snow School — created for young learners of all abilities aged 4-16. Can you go skiing without lessons?

We wouldn’t recommend it. If you want to get the most out of your skiing then it’s important to have a few lessons to help you pick up the basics.

To ensure a safe skiing experience we set certain slope policies. All recreational users must meet the following minimum standards:

  • Be able to control and link turns.
  • Be able to control speed and direction.
  • Be able to stop safely.
  • Be comfortable with variable piste conditions.
  • Be competent to use a drag lift.

Juniors aged 10 years or under are permitted to use the Main Slope without an instructor/parent/guardian, as long as the following rules are followed:

The Junior must:

  • Wear a Helmet
  • Control speed and direction.
  • Be able to stop safely.
  • Be comfortable with variable piste conditions.
  • Be able to link their turns.
  • Be able to use the button lift without assistance.
  • A maximum of 2 hours are permitted per day.
  • A parent/guardian must remain within the centre throughout the session.
  • The Junior must have a valid ticket on their person.
  • The Junior always remains the responsibility of the parent/guardian

With the help of our ski instructors you will easily find your feet, and soon be ready to hit the slopes!

How many ski lessons do I need?

It only takes a few lessons to build up the basics. We have lessons for all different skill levels, from levels 1 to 5, you can climb your way up the levels to get steady on those skiis. Once you hit our level 5 you’ll be in the best position to ski independently on the main slope! So no matter what your current level is, our ski instructors are ready to help you reach level 5.

Do I need ski lessons?

If you are new to skiing then definitely, our ski lessons are the place to start! If you’re a beginner, or you want to top up on your skills, we have a range of ski lessons at different levels to find the fit for you!

How much is a ski lesson?

Can you learn to ski without lessons?

Lessons are always the best way to get started, we wouldn’t advise skiing without lessons, to help avoid injury.

What is the earliest age for ski lessons?

Our ski lessons are available for children aged 4+ years. Our kids’ ski lessons are the perfect way to introduce your kids to the slopes!
