100 Tonnes of Snow Fall's in Manchester

The first snow of the season has fallen, not in the French Alps, but here in Manchester, marking the beginning of the peak ski and snowboarding season.

Chill Factore, the North’s premier visitor attraction, has received over 100 tonnes of snow in one month, measuring over 1 foot of fresh new snow on its 180m real snow ski slope, the longest in the UK.
It will be snowing daily at Chill Factore until the middle of October, meaning visitors hitting the slopes or having snow fun in Mini Moose Land or the Snow Park might find themselves enjoying a real arctic experience.

Morwenna Angove, CEO at Chill Factore, said: “Who knew the first snow fall of the season would be here in the UK!? We’re pleased to kick off the peak ski and snowboarding season with brand new, fresh snow here at Chill Factore and look forward to welcoming visitors to get their snow legs ready for this year’s winter breaks.

“We’ve created plenty of work for our Pistenbully which has been out grooming and tending to the freshly fallen snow and improved slope conditions for our avid skiers and boarders who’ve been out making fresh tracks, not to mention enhanced family fun in Mini Moose Land and the Snow Park!”

In the Snow Park, families can also get kitted up for the Downhill Donuts, Luge Slip ‘N’ Slide, race each other on Sledge ‘O’ Mania and brave the Snow Luge, built entirely from real snow. Renovation of Mini Moose Land means that under fours can now explore the brand new maze with hidden tunnels in the snow and toy town in the arctic adventure playground, as well as soft play animals, mini doughnuts and tiddly skis for little ones to test out their snow feet.

Throughout October and November you can now beat the rush and enjoy half price ski and snowboard lessons, 50% off a snow park pass after 6pm and lift passes from £18/ For more information on how to redeem these offers, please click here
